Review: Sabon NYC Face Polisher

sabon nyc face polisherUnforunately, my skin became cross with me when I used a patch to test the Sabon NYC Face Polisher. It’s kind of depressing because it makes me feel useless as a beauty blogger.

But what details I can give you is that this product is a cream-based wash with hearty beads for exfoliation. I think it was the mint oil and lemongrass scent which did me in though - anything that tingles or creates that cold feeling on my skin usually spells disaster.

If you didn’t have sensitive skin like me, you’d probably love this product, but for me it just didn’t work. However, being the thrifty person I am, I refashioned the product into a foot scrub. And in this capacity, it’s quite brilliant. It conditioned and smoothed nicely and left my feet feeling all cool and refreshed - something my tired feet were very thankful for.

Good thinking! I love exfoliants of any kind… face, elbows, feet, but I have to agree with you, anything on my face that is cold and tingly is NOT GOOD.

I’ve been to so many facials where my face is BURNING and I’m telling the aesthetician, “This is stinging me!” and she’s all, “But this is our most gentle product, it can’t be hurting you.”

Gah! The joys of sensitive skin…

yes, good thinking. i think the sabon products in general seem overly scented, although they do work well.

Hey Hannah - have you used their other face products before? I’m sure we’d all love to hear the experience you had with them.

I think their soap products are great; I’ve loved what I’ve tried so far and I think the scents are awesome. But it’s just this face polish that doesn’t work on my skin because I’m so sensitive. I imagine if your face is not sensitive, you’d be loving the product. But alas, that is not how I was born…

That’s cute! “Sabon” is actually a Filipino word for “soap” :)
