Tarte Bronzer Part II
If you’ve been reading my blog, you’ll know that I have an ongoing love affair with Tarte Cosmetics, especially their spectacular cheekstain, which incidentally my sister-in-law just purchased. After sending the Tartelets a gushing fan email recently, they responded by generously sending over some samples for me to review for the blog.
So far, I am finding myself taking a real shine to their Mineral Powder Bronzer in Park Avenue Princess. It gives me just the perfect amount of healthy sunkissed glow without looking like I tripped and fell into some kid’s sandbox. I wrote briefly about it this past week, but I did want to show everyone the beautiful packaging:

And it’s just that sort of practicality that speaks loudly to me as a consumer and tells me that this is a company in touch with the needs of the modern woman. If you’re anything like me, you know what it’s like to juggle a million different things at once. I need makeup that fits practically into my busy lifestyle without forcing me to sacrifice style. And being that I’m not a makeup artist, nor do I have the skills of one, I need a line like Tarte that’s effortless and goofproof.
What makeup product/line do you depend on to help you look good AND make your life a little easier? Share your recommendations with us in the comments!

Which Tarte Cheekstain did you get? I have Flush…
Also, I like to apply bronzer with a smaller brush so I don’t look fake, but then I’m very pale to begin with!
I love those small kabuki brushes though! I have one by Bobbi Brown and one by Benefit that I use for powder all the time!

I have Flush, but I am contemplating getting the Blushing Bride shade as well. (Apparently Blushing Bride has surpassed Flush as their bestselling shade.) I’ve tried it once before, but am thinking about trying it again.
How do you think the smaller brush helps your look? Does it allow for more precise contouring or something? And how small is small?

i got a feeling benefit is gonna be my new fave makeup line
If I can find them, that is!
for now it’s still my beloved bourjois - EVERYONE should try their lipglosses, my fave thing. no wait, try their bronzers…and their nail polish ( 11 days and not one chip on my toe nails…) …and their maxi frange mascara is great too.
Actually everything is great!

I have tarte’s Jake and Samantha lipgloss that is for breast cancer fundraising this month. I love the berry color on my lips. I haven’t tried their cheek stain yet, even though I hear it is awesome. I guess I am just nervous to mess up and look like a clown!
LOVE the picture for your banner! Someone looks like they love bath time!

Hey Renee - Benefit’s Benetint is on my (long) list of must-try’s. Any experience with that one?
Hi Shannon - you shouldn’t worry about messing up with the cheekstain at all. I’m not that proficient with makeup, and I find it incredibly easy. The color is very buildable, so it allows you to gauge your coverage and prevents big mess-ups.

Benetint is the BOMB….
They make it in this little container for your lips now that has a little gloss on the other end.

How cool! I think it’s interesting that you can also use Benetint on your cheeks and lips. It seems too liquidy to hold on lips, but who knows? I will tell you that I tried using Tarte cheekstain on my lips and that does NOT work. Tastes really gross.

Heehee… Quite a number of people have tried the cheekstains and said they tasted icky. They smell fantastic, though.
I was never one for makeup, until I started using Tarte just a few months ago, and I adore them. I have quite a bit of their makeup now, but my most common everyday look would be either True Love or Flush cheekstain, the Rest Assured brightening wand, and a lipgloss (Jake & Samantha or Kevin & Winnie, usually) to cancel out the washed out, haven’t-had-enough-sleep appearance of, well, not getting anywhere near enough sleep. Or being worn out, or really stressed. It gives you more color, so you don’t have people coming up to you all the time saying “You look tired.”
I love their True Love cheekstain, from the Lovin’ the Fast Stain set at Sephora. Jake & Samantha is awesome (probably my favorite duo right now
) and their lip stains are fantastic!! And FRxtion - I use that every day.
I really like that they donate to YSC - the Young Survival Coalition, for women under 40 who have been diagnosed with breast cancer.

Oh I love the compacts!!!
October 2nd, 2006 at 9:43 pm
Okami - first of all, welcome! Secondly, I’ve seen True Love at Sephora, and after standing there studying it for quite a while, became frightened by how pink it looked. But I’ll check it out now.
So there are two votes for Jake & Samantha. That’s now added to the must-try list as well.
LOVE FRxtion. Will write a post about that soon (I hope)!
Karina - what is your favorite compact? Do share! (Especially as this has somehow transformed into the Tarte fan club board. Hehe.)

I second the true love cheekstain one of my favorites. The best pink color I have ever bought. It gives this beautiful pink glow definitely worth it! I think all of Tartes products are fantastic. The park avenue princess bronzer couldn’t be better. I am now officially a Tarte-aholic! Couldn’t be without them ever again. I use clean slate smooth operator mineral pressed powder the eraser concealer the yellow mellow and averything else that comes after!

Thanks for the welcome!
True Love is amazing - Flush was my favorite, but now it’s True Love! And it smells all nice and watermelon-y. As an added bonus, it’s just $30 ($2 more than a normal full size cheekstain) and comes with a mini Rise ‘n’ Shine in cherry. Their lip stain is amazing - it has a consistancy like water, but it produces such a pretty berry shade, and it’s so easy to apply, and it really truly stays on. I like it much better than Urban Decay’s lip stain.
I have to chime in my vote on compacts! Miss Fix-It is my fave - such pretty colors! They look bright, but they’re so pretty and you can make them sheer or layer for a lot of color. The Goody Two Shoes palette is really nice, too - great for daytime and on-the-job because it’s more mattes and more professional colors. And either of the Peep Show palettes are great because they’re only $37 and come with 3 shadows (golden or silvery, depending on which you get) and an eye primer, and slightly shorter-handled versions of Tarte’s Brush with Greatness double-ended eye shadow brush, and their double-ended eye liner brush. The handles (if I recall correctly) are about 3/4″ shorter than the handles on the full-size brushes, but the heads are full size. I confess, I got my Amber Peep Show just for the brushes, but I love the shadows!
And if you like berry-ish reds, try the Bonnie & Clyde lip gloss duo - gorgeous color, especially for winter.

I forgot to mention - the Peep Show palette also comes with an eye liner - brown or black, depending on whether you get Amber or Onyx.

Hi Melanie! I’ve tried their foundation once and thought it was pretty good. Gotta re-visit, though, to form my final opinion.
Okami - seems like Miss Fix-It is unavailable now? Couldn’t click on the link at the Tarte website.

The Miss Fix-It palette is still in stock at QVC and on Sephora’s website. The palette is discontinued, so Sephora and QVC are selling their remaining stock, then once it’s gone, it’s gone.
I’ve got very sensitive skin, and I love Tarte’s foundation. Unlike every other foundation I’ve tried, it doesn’t leave my skin feeling sore and irritated after I take it off. Every other foundation I’ve tried has, even if I’m not allergic to it. I can wear theirs all day and my skin won’t feel tender and sore after I take it off, which is a huge improvement over every other time I’ve worn foundation in my life (which is why I almost never used foundation - until trying foundations for my friend’s wedding two weeks ago, I hadn’t worn foundation since April of 2003).
