Review: Tarte fRxtion

Talk about a tit for a tat. This weekend, as the ladies were beautifying ourselves for the wedding, we each dumped out the contents of our makeup pouches to see what we were all packing.

I proudly pulled out my Tarte fRxtion, expecting to wow the crowd. Andy’s grandmother, who has been antiquing for 30 years, took one look at it and promptly retreated into her bedroom.

She returned carrying this:

antique lipstick

Look familiar to you?

Guess it’s true what they say: there is nothing new under the sun.

Though Tarte’s fRxtion is pretty darn cool, original or not. One side consists of a sugar exfoliator to smooth lips while the reverse is a Vitamin E enhanced balm to moisturize. All of this is neatly packaged with a nifty mirror. Though I would think that a mirror would be put to better use with their lipsticks, where you actually have to worry about the application.

Isn’t the carving on the case just gorgeous? Why don’t they make lipsticks like that anymore?
