Review: Clinique Perfectly Real Compact Makeup
I’ve been a Clinique user for years. I still remember buying my first bottle of Clinique foundation for my Junior Prom. (Anyone else having Laguna Beach flashbacks? Yeah, um, me neither.)
So I was at the Clinique counter this summer looking for some bronzer. That didn’t work out so great, but I did find this nice foundation: Clinique’s Perfectly Real Compact Makeup.
You’re probably just as confused now as I was, seeing the picture. That’s a powder, isn’t it? I even semi-argued with the saleslady about it, but she kept insisting it was a foundation, so I relented and said fine, fine it’s a foundation, and took it home with me.
I’m still wondering why this isn’t a powder (it looks like a powder…?), but either way, it doesn’t matter because it provides great coverage, feels light on the skin, is oil-free and has pigment that is buildable.
Build-ability is a big deal to me because I don’t like heavy coverage. But there are the days when I just need it because my skin isn’t looking so great. So to be able to choose my level of coverage is something that I really value.
One tip for you: use a powder brush when applying this. The makeup sponge that comes with the compact tends to pick up much more pigment than you need. A brush will allow you to layer the color slowly and evenly.
Available for $22.50 at Clinique.com.

I love this too! Also, you can dampen the sponge for super full coverage for a night out…. Have a great weekend

Oooh…that’s what I suspected, but I was a little scared to try this for fear of ruining the whole compact. Thanks for letting us know!

I tried this compact and I found it made my face very blouchy, maybe I just got a bad batch or something I really like Nars in Monte Blanc… its great and I feel like has a better coverage..

Really? Did you use it with the pouf they give you, or with your own makeup brush? I would try the makeup brush if you haven’t used that, and see what it does for you. It may be the pigment is going on too heavily?

If you happen to come across one of these in my skintone, will you please let me know. I’d like to end the 10 year search for foundation. I’ve tried so many and always end up looking grey or orange. HELP!!!

I thought you used a great one from MAC? Remember that time we went together and you got that amazing makeover at the MAC counter before one of our dances? Could have sworn the guy used something that looked great on your skin.
