Holiday Gift Guide: Eco-Friendly Edition
Of course you can’t celebrate the holidays without a gift to your mother. This year, make sure you’re also giving to the queen bee herself - Mother Nature.
Here are some great eco-friendly gift options for you and yours this season:
Nature Girl uses all natural, organically grown and wildcrafted ingredients. Not sure what it means to wildcraft something, but it has a devil-may-care ring to it which I like. No synthetic fragrances or dyes are used, and they do not test on animals. Give one of the Shea Butter Body Balms this holiday, made with wildcrafted African shea butter, organic California lavendar water and organic herbs. An 8.5oz jar retails for $54 at Nature-Girl.com.
Pangea Organics meets all of the usual qualifications of an organic beauty line. But what sets them apart is their packaging which is made of 100% post-consumer paper and organic seeds. Meaning you can soak the package in water and plant it and stuff grows! Check out their Italian White Sage, Geranium and Yarrow Bar Soap which is 3.75oz and retails for $7.

Bee Yummy is a line of organic AND raw skin care. This means it’s a living product with all the enzymes intact because it was cold process prepared. (Don’t worry though, nothing will pop out at you when you open the jar.) It’s also free of chemical and synthetic ingredients. Bee Yummy Skin Food is a nourishing moisturizer that’s great for a wide range of skin conditions. A 4oz jar retails for $45.
John Masters Organics sprang out of the desire to create a luxury beauty line that was also good to the earth. For the diva in your life, give the Holiday Gift Set which contains the Blood Orange and Vanilla Body Wash, Body Milk and Soy Candle in a beautiful box tied with ribbon. Retails for $68.
WoodSprite Organic Body prides itself on small handmade batches of beauty products made from pure botanical ingredients. They offer a range of great gift items including an Organic Soap Gift Set, a Dead Sea Mud Spa Gift Set and this Sacred Collection Soap Gift Crate pictured here which retails for $40.

When products are organic or raw, does that mean they don’t have preservatives to keep them from going bad within a set amount of time?

I took a look at their website, and learned that the Bee Yummy Skin Food contains honey, propolis and balsam fir which are actually naturally occuring preservatives themselves. And honey keeps forever (which I knew about before). The company says their cream will do likewise - or they guarantee they will give you a full refund.
Very interesting, huh?
