Update: Avon Instant Manicure
For everyone who was asking for an update on the Avon Instant Manicure that I wrote about a couple weeks ago, here is how they fared a week after I applied them:

I think they did pretty well for what they were. The decay rate ended up being about the same as that of a normal manicure.
Also, since it was my first time using the Avon set, I had a hard time applying the strips. There was some wrinkling and bubbling at the edges near my cuticle, which just made chipping easier. But they say that you get better with each application.
By the way, sorry to say, but the sale I last reported on is over. Avon Instant Manicure is back to $8 a set. That is, unless you know an Avon rep you can try to bargain with. Hehe…

So, I’m wondering why anybody would pay $8 for a set of these, when you can buy two bottles of Maybelline nail polish for the same amount of money, and you will get more manicures out of them… If you get the quick-dry stuff, I bet it will even take less time to do your nails with the nail polish than to apply the “instant” manicure.
(just a thought)

Your points are well taken. I would say that the upside is no risk of smudging - like when you start doing stuff thinking your manicure is dry when it really isn’t yet. Plus, somewhere between the base coat, the two color coats and the top coat, I end up making some sort of mistake. And for me, it means never coloring outside the lines. Also, I find that the glossiness of the color will fade over the week, but this seemed to retain the shine pretty well. Oh, and they’re also great for traveling.
Anyway, if you’re a pro with the regular old nail polish, you’re probably right to just stick to that, but those were the benefits I saw to the Avon Instant Manicure.

I’ve never tried it before, but a few of the beauty bloggers seem to really like it.
Here’s a more clinical response from The Beauty Brains if you’re more interested in the science of it:

Anyway, let me know if you do try it out because I’m also really curious about it!
