Favorite Things 2006
Can you believe we only have one more day until 2006 is dunzo? It always amazes me how quickly time goes by, and how just one year ago, I was saying goodbye to 2005. Crazy to think that next year at this time, I’ll be saying goodbye to 2007. And in five years, I’ll be saying goodbye to 2011. Well, you get the point.
2006 was a fantastic beauty year for me. I started this blog in July because I love beauty, I love to write and I wanted to bring the two together. I thought I knew beauty before this blog, but I realize now that I didn’t. So 2006 was a huge learning year for me. These are the gems that stumbled across my path:
Tarte Cheekstain - Ah, the blush of my dreams. Will I ever find any better? I challenge y’all to try. A gel blush that goes on sheer and makes my skin look dewy, young and fresh. I have Flush and just got it in Blushing Bride for Christmas.
DuWop Revolotion Face Tinted Moisturizer SPF 15 - I’ve tried a couple of tinted moisturizers including the Laura Mercier one (don’t understand what the fuss is all about), and a few other ones. But this one is definitely my favorite. The coverage is just heavy enough to actually make a positive difference on my face, but sheer enough to look totally natural. And it contains an SPF that will actually protect against both UVA and UVB rays - protection that is more prevalently missing from our beauty products than you might realize.
L’Occitane Shea Butter Hand Cream - I fell madly, deeply in love with L’Occitane in general this year. I’ve known about the brand for a long time, but I never really appreciated it until this year. The highlight has been this fantastic hand cream that is one of the most effective hand moisturizers I’ve used. The best part is that it absorbs completely into my skin to leave zero grease or stickiness. Amazing.
Sothys Immuniscience Fluid and Cream - These products single-handedly saved my skin this year, and for that, I will be forever grateful. My big skin relevation this year was that I have dry skin that needs serious hydration. On top of dehydration, I have major sensitivities to lots of common ingredients in skincare products. So enter this cream and serum which is made not just for sensitive skin, but ultra sensitive skin. Now my skin is hydrated and happy.
Urban Decay Deluxe Eyeshadow - I’d sort of written off Urban Decay as a cosmetic has-been, a remnant of the mid-90s grunge era, until I came across these babies. I’m a sucker for bright eye colors, probably because I love color. And between my dark hair and my dark eyes, a splash of hue around the eyes always feel unexpected, slightly edgy - which I love. These shadows are magnificently pigmented, and come in the boldest, most beautiful colors I’ve seen. For those days when you don’t want to feel like a wallflower.
Whish Shave Crave - Shaving became less about knicks and cuts this year, and more about luxe luxe luxe with this discovery. The perfect texture coupled with outstanding packaging means a great time for the legs.
That wraps up my list of favorite things for 2006 - what were your favorite things of 2006? Also, be sure to check out the great blogs below for their lists as well! Happy New Year Everyone!!

I can’t wait for another year of Bon Bons… you’re my favorite place to procrastinate and dream about luxurious creams and eyeshadows and lip glosses when I really should be working! Have a happy, healthy New Year!

Tarte Cheek stains would have been on my list if I would have made it longer. I finally tried one this year for the first time and I love them too. I have to try the Duwop product though. I love lists like these. Happy New Year!

Happy New Year to all!
My favorite products of the year, with the exception of Urban Decay Primer Potion and L’Occitane 100% Pure Shea Butter, are all Tarte! I think I can pretty much term Tarte as my favorite thing of 2006!
