Beautiful Hair!
Thanks to my darlink friend, I own two - count ‘em - two bottles of Kerastase shampoo! She works at L’Oreal, so she always hooks me up on birthdays and Christmas with some great L’Oreal owned brands.
Funny, because a year ago I only had a vague idea what Kerastase was when she gave me my first bottle. I used the product with abandon. And meanwhile, Andy used it too because he’s a guy and, well, he’ll use whatever’s lying around.
So when I found out how much a bottle cost (nearly $30!), I put myself on strict ration and relegated Andy to the Suave. Hehe.
And does it work? I really like it a lot. It gets my hair clean and doesn’t weigh it down. And it doesn’t make my scalp itchy. Can a girl ask for more?

i’m a bit of a shampoo junkie, and i haven’t tried this one. I’ve heard it is great though. for a cheaper alternative, i think redken shampoos are fabulous. they don’t leave a build up in your hair but still make it shiny and smooth.

A lot of the time the big cosmetic companies (L’Oreal, P&G, Estee) use the same ingredients (but change the smell) in most or all of their products, but especially shampoos or conditioners. I bet your friend would know if L’Oreal has a shampoo with similar ingredients that works just as well, hopefully at drugstore prices.

Oops, when I reread my comment I realized it was unclear… I mean that Redken and Vive and Matrix and Biolage and Kerastase shampoos probably have similar ingredients and have similar results. It’s because L’Oreal wants to use whatever ingredients their R&D finds most effective, but also want to have a lot of different brands and price points to attract different customers. Hope that made sense.

Hey Julie - I used Redken in college and remember really liking it. Don’t know why I never went back - probably because it’s more money than I care to spend on shampoo. I wouldn’t even use Kerastase except for the fact that I get them in gifts. I’m pretty cheap when it comes to shampoos since my hair is in pretty good shape on its own.
Meg - don’t worry, I understood your comment.
I wouldn’t be surprised if they did use some very similar ingredients. But then again, I bet that’s the case across all different brands. There’s only so many ingredients out there that you can use to make up shampoo.

Kerastase is a long time favorite! Simply divine… probably the best damn hair products in all of the land!!!
also… try TERAX… a little less expensive and equally as awesome!

I’m the same way— hubby does not get to use my shampoo! So selfish, no?

That’s funny that you ration this stuff, I use it strictly on special occasions.

I have always wanted to try Kerastase, but am always wary about doling out that kind of cash for shampoo and conditioners.

I am a total Kerastase fan … although I don’t use this variant I use Bain Divalent (for greasy roots and dry ends) and it works wonders. Also try their conditioner Age Recharge … a lightweight mask that works in a minute and repairs tortured hair like mine with an additction to straighteners and jumbo tongs … now yes they cost, but I honestly believe you need less than half the amount of a cheaper shampoo and conditioner.

That is such great shampoo, my hubby bought me 1 bottle for my birthday, I did not take great care in only using “rations” lol, I think I’m addicted!
