Say No to Circles
Let’s take a minute now and talk about eye creams. I’ve got a doctor father-in-law who says that you’re just as well off using regular moisturizer around your eyes as you would using a special cream. I’m not at a point in my life, at least where wrinkles are concerned, where I can refute him or not. But I look at eye creams as I do environmental vigilance. If I do my part and recycle my plastic bottles and magazines, eventually something good’s gotta happen, right? So with eye creams, it’s better something than nothing, right?
So I started using Avon Anew’s Alternative Intensive Eye Cream a couple weeks ago. It’s formulated to lessen darkness around the eyes, reduce puffiness, smooth fine lines and wrinkles, and treat the factors that can intensify the appearance of dark circles.
How does this happen, you might ask? Good question. One ingredient is TDPA, a patented, pharmaceutical-inspired ingredient that has been shown to inhibit tyrosine (an enzyme that triggers pigmentation) activity. In addition, you’ve got a host of botanical extracts including azadirachta indica (try saying that ten times fast), soybean root, yeast, fennel, green tea and rosemary.
The cream is light and sinks right into my skin. I don’t suffer from dark circles or wrinkles yet, so I can’t report on whether it works or not. But I do plan on continuing use of the product so that it’s a long time before I ever get to that point. In the least, the cream has helped hydrate the area around my eyes. And hydration is always welcome in my home.
A 0.5 fl oz jar retails for $25.
So tell me, what are your opinions on eye cream? Worth it, or waste of time?

I ♥ Sabon NYC’s eye cream. It seems to really work and I have serious issues with dark circles.

I love Sabon NYC! Didn’t realize they made an eye cream though. I’ve been enjoying a number of their bath products thanks to my husband’s Valentine’s Day gift this year.

I have to agree with your environmental vigilance comparison about eye creams. I know I’m not going to see immediate results, but I still have to do my little bit, and hopefully it will make a difference!
I’m using benefit’s eyecon cream right now and it actually tingles a bit, so I think it must be doing something…..:)

It’s hard to find and rarely in stock in their store (per the people there anyways) but you can always order it online. It’s found under “Face Products” and “White Tea Line” or something to that effect. They also have a night cream.
Sabon is great stuff.

I love MDSKINCARE’S Lift & Lighten Advanced Technology eye cream. Amazing!! I used to have the worst under eye dark circles not anymore!! This product has little light reflecting particles that help to lighten the dark areas. Def. a must try.

I used to think that eye creams were a waste of money and my face lotion would be just fine until I came across Erno Laszlo’s pHelitone Eye treatment. It has a yellowish tint to it that gets rid of dark circles and somehow makes your eyes look less puffy. Even if I got a full 8 hours of sleep I still use it and love it.
