Boots Footnote

They were giving out these gift bags at their Fashion Week booth, and it was like they were reading my mind on the stuff that I needed/wanted/loved.

From left to right:

No7 Intensive Moisture Face Mask - I have been in the market for a moisturizing face mask. My skin can now be categorized as dry, so anything I can do to boost moisture is good. As Julia of All About the Pretty said to me yesterday, “Welcome to aging.” Ha! (Go read her blog, by the way. Hers is one of my absolute favorites.)

Almond, Pistachio and Milk Body Butter - I love anything almond scented and anything milk scented. Pistachio can join the party. I guess.

No7 Restore and Renew Beauty Serum - I use this product every night religiously. You can read my review here. This was a product that I started out liking okay enough. But you know how some things just wend their way into your heart without you even realizing it? This has been that product for me. I was just thinking last night, how I was running out and that I needed to go buy some more.

Does that Intensive Moisture Face Mask really work good for dry skin?
Because I cannot find any good products that really work on my uber dry skin.

Hey, I was thinking of getting my mom Hope in a Jar but I’ve read really mixed reviews including many that say it causes break outs (evem for those without sensitive skin) and blackheads. Do you have an opinion or a recommendation for the perfect pampering gift?

BTW I forgot to tell you, the Boots Botanics Overnight Hand & Nail Treatment you gave me has become my favorite everyday hand cream (L’Occitane still rules as the 911 repair cream). In fact, I carry it around in my bag and I have never loved a hand cream enough to actually justify the space it takes up in my bag. Despite the name, I use it during the day and I find it has the perfect balance of thickness and absorption so as not to annoy me. (I hate most hand creams for being either too thin or too heavy) It also has a nice slightly rich yet fresh scent that does not make me sneeze like most scented creams. I’m so glad this is at Target now and that they are expanding the product offerings available Stateside.

Anna - I haven’t tried the Intensive Moisture Face Mask yet as I’m currently testing the Lumene Sensitive Hydra Tender Soothing and Moisturizing Mask. I don’t want to speak too prematurely, but so far I really like this for moisturizing my dry skin. You can buy it at CVS for only about $11. I’m hoping to put up a full review in a couple week’s time.

But I totally empathize with the dry skin. It’s been the bane of my existence these past couple of years, and I’ve been searching high and low for stuff that will really hydrate.

Oh yeah, I’ve also been using the Dermalogica AGE Smart Dynamic Skin Recovery SPF30, an anti-aging daytime moisturizer. Again, just started using it a few days ago, and don’t want to speak too soon, but I’ve really liked this so far too. It’s so lightweight and non-greasy, but seems to deliver serious moisture.

Hey Jillian - are you looking for something anti-aging for your mom? Because I was just talking to Julia from All About the Pretty and she absolutely raved about Chanel’s Sublimage Cream. But get this — a 1.7oz jar retails for $350! That would definitely be a pampering gift. I’m dying to try it myself, but Andy’s put his foot down when he heard the three-figure price tag. Julia did say, though, that Bobbi Brown’s Vitamin Enriched Face Base does the same job for $47.

Otherwise, though, I don’t know about Hope in a Jar. I’m very wary about trying new products on my skin, and have been doing so slowly after very careful scrutiny of the label ingredients. I’m amazed I’ve even allowed myself to try the Lumene, Boots and Dermalogica products that I have.

Oh, I’m glad you liked the hand cream!! I’ve been using this cream that Danielle gave me from France that is amazing!!! (A post to follow later.)

Thanks for the reply, Christina. To answer your question - sort of. It’s more that my mom tends toward products for the face and I feel like she would enjoy the selling pts of your typical anti-aging product: smoothing, tightening etc. Re: the Chanel - well for that price just buy La Mer, sheesh!

I’ll check out the Bobbi Brown. I looked at something similar from Shiseido today as well as checked out what new Boots products they had at Target. Boots Botanicals has a Smoothing Face Serum that I want to believe in but I’m so skeptical of all of these! They are after toner, before moisturizer… what does it really do?! Grrr…

Anyway, let us know the results of your facial moisturizer experiments. I also liked the Garnier 24hr hydrating day cream you gave me but mostly just b/c it smells so good. I can only use it at night, though, as it doesn’t get absorbed easily and rubs off in gross eraser lint type pieces if I try and blend make-up over it - it’s my No. 1 peeve about facial moisturizer. :p

Body butter has changed my life.

I totally missed out on this booth! I was so busy running to shows it just didn’t even register. Now I’m sad I didn’t get my Boots!
